Scott C. Arves was initially elected to Werner's Board by stockholders in May 2021 and serves as Lead Independent Director, a role he has held since February 2023. He retired from Transport America, Inc. in January 2017 after serving as President and CEO and on the board for 10 years, and prior to that had a 27-year career with Schneider National where in his final six years he served as President of its transportation sector responsible for trucking and intermodal businesses. He serves on the board of advisors of CSM Companies, Inc. and is a former director of public companies Commercial Vehicle Group, Inc. and TFI International Inc.
Diane K. Duren was initially elected to the Board by stockholders in May 2017. In February 2017 she retired from Union Pacific Corporation, having served as Executive Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer and Corporate Secretary for four years, capping 32 years at the company that also included roles in finance and as a vice president and general manager in chemical marketing/sales and agricultural products. Earlier in her career she was a certified public accountant with Deloitte, Haskins & Sells, and she has served on the boards of U.S. Silica Holdings, Inc. and Savage Companies.
Michelle D. Greene was appointed to Werner's Board in November 2023 to fill a directorship vacancy and was initially elected by stockholders in May 2024. Since August 2022 she has served as Executive Vice President, Chief Information Officer of Global Technology and Business Services at Cardinal Health, having previously been Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Cardinal Health's pharmaceutical segment. Earlier she was Vice President Information Technology at Masco Corporation and held information technology leadership positions at Johnson Controls (2009-2018) and Sony Ericsson (2000-2008).
Jack A. Holmes was appointed to Werner's Board in August 2018 to fill a directorship position created by a Board expansion and was initially elected by stockholders in May 2019. He was president of UPS Freight from 2007 until his retirement in 2016, capping 37 years at UPS during which he also held leadership roles in operations, engineering and human resources. As executive chairman he leads the board of EmergeTech, Inc., and he has served as a director of Sharps Compliance and on the boards of Redwood Logistics, LaserShip and 10-4 Systems.
Derek J. Leathers is Werner's Chairman and CEO, serving as Chairman since May 2021 and CEO since May 2016; he was Vice Chairman in 2020-21 and President from 2011 to January 2024. The Board appointed him in May 2020 to fill a directorship vacancy and stockholders initially elected him in May 2021. He has worked in the transportation and logistics industry for over 30 years, joining the Company in 1999 after eight years at Schneider National, and holds an economics degree from Princeton University. Livingstone Consulting, LLC, established in 2022, and retired in 2021 from serving as Vice President - Transportation at The Home Depot, which she joined in 2007. M. Gayle Packer was appointed to Werner's Board in May 2025 to fill a directorship vacancy. She has served as CEO since 2019 and as President since 2018 of Terracon Consultants, Inc., an engineering consulting firm, having joined Terracon in 2004 and held roles including Executive Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer and co-General Counsel. She holds juris doctorate and Master of Laws degrees and was a corporate, tax and employee benefits attorney at Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP from 2001 to 2004, and serves on the boards of VHB, Inc. and the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce.
Carmen A. Tapio was appointed to Werner's Board in November 2020 to fill a directorship vacancy and was initially elected by stockholders in May 2021. In 2015 she founded North End Teleservices, LLC, which provides advanced contact center solutions, and has served as its CEO since 2017 after previously serving as its President and Chief Operating Officer. She also founded Forever North Real Estate LLC and the NET Work Spot, owned Core Advantage Consulting from 2010-2015, and from 2001-2009 held multiple vice president positions with Carlson Companies of Minneapolis.
Alexi A. Wellman was initially elected to Werner's Board by stockholders in May 2021 and was designated by the Board as an audit committee financial expert. She has been CEO of Altaba, Inc., a closed-end management investment company, since January 2022, and served as Altaba's Chief Financial and Accounting Officer from 2017-2021. Earlier she was Vice President, Finance and ultimately Vice President, Global Controller of Yahoo! Inc. (2013-2017), CFO of Nebraska Book Company (2011-2013), and a certified public accountant with KPMG LLP for 18 years, seven as an audit partner; she serves on the board of public company ESS Inc.
Nathan J. Meisgeier has served as Werner's President and Chief Legal Officer since January 2024, also serving as Chief of Staff and overseeing functions including Legal, Safety, Risk, Human Resources, Government Affairs and Driver Recruiting. He previously served since February 2018 as Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer, after being Vice President and General Counsel since 2016 and fulfilling other legal leadership roles following his joining Werner in 2005. Before Werner he was a litigator at the Kansas City law firm of Stinson, Mag and Fizzell for seven years, and he holds a juris doctorate from Harvard Law School.
Craig T. Callahan has served as Werner's Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer since February 2018, leading sales and business development across the Company's transportation and logistics service offerings, managing marketing and communications, and facilitating sustainability initiatives. He previously served since 2015 as Senior Vice President of Sales and, since joining the Company in 1995, has held other leadership roles in sales, customer service and operations. He holds a degree in finance and business management from Creighton University.
Eric J. Downing has served as Werner's Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer since January 2023. He previously served since 2016 as Senior Vice President of Dedicated, after having been Vice President of Specialized Services since 2012, and since joining the Company in 1998 has held roles in operations, marketing and logistics. He served in the United States Air Force from 1991 to 1998, holds a degree from the University of Nebraska - Omaha in criminology and criminal justice, and serves on the board of the Truckload Carriers Association.
James L. Johnson is Werner's Executive Vice President of Accounting Administration, having joined the Company in 1991 as Manager of Financial Reporting and progressed through roles including Assistant Controller, Director of Accounting, Controller, Vice President and Controller, and Senior Vice President and Controller. He also served as Werner's Chief Accounting Officer from 2010 to March 2026 and Corporate Secretary from 1996 to August 2023, and advised the Company on February 24, 2026 that he would retire as Chief Accounting Officer effective March 1, 2026. Before Werner he was a certified public accountant with Arthur Andersen & Co. from 1985 to 1991 and holds a degree in business administration from Nebraska Wesleyan University.
Daragh P. Mahon is Werner's Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer, responsible for driving the Company's technology and information systems strategy, innovation and IT operations, and brings more than 20 years of information technology and strategic leadership experience. Prior to joining the Company in 2020, he was employed at Vonage Business, Inc. for six years, his last position being Senior Vice President, Global IT and Business Applications, and was previously employed by Sage North America for 10 years. He is a member of the Forbes Technology Council and the Executive Committee for Tech Nebraska, among other advisory roles.
Jim S. Schelble has served as Werner's Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer since May 2016, with responsibilities related to Driver Recruiting, the Roadmaster School Network, and terminal operations. He previously served as Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing since 2005 and held other leadership roles in sales and in development of the Company's Dedicated business since joining in 1998. Before Werner he spent 12 years with Roadway Express, and he holds a business administration degree from St. John's University and an MBA from Drake University.
Christopher D. Wikoff has served as Werner's Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer since April 2023. He previously served since 2016 as Executive Vice President and Treasurer of West Technology Group (formerly Intrado Corporation), where he was responsible for strategic finance, accounting, treasury, tax, investor and lender relations and multiple finance shared service centers in the U.S., Europe and Asia. Earlier he held various financial leadership roles over 16 years with Lucent Technologies, Avaya and CommScope, and he holds a business administration degree from the University of South Carolina Darla Moore School of Business.
