Board & leadership
McKinnon co-founded Okta and has served as CEO and a director since January 2009 and as Chairperson since February 2017, providing strategic continuity and deep identity-security market expertise built over 15+ years leading the company. He previously served as Senior Vice President of Development at Salesforce from 2003 to 2009 and held engineering and leadership roles at PeopleSoft (acquired by Oracle) from 1995 to 2003. He holds a B.S. from Brigham Young University and an M.S. in Computer Science from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.
Kerrest co-founded Okta and served as Chief Operating Officer from 2009 to 2023, then Executive Vice Chairperson, and currently serves as Vice Chairperson of the board, bringing deep institutional knowledge of the company. He is Founder and Managing Partner of Windproof Partners, an enterprise software growth-stage investment and advisory firm founded in May 2025, and earlier held sales and business development roles at Salesforce from 2002 to 2007. He holds a B.S. in Computer Science from Stanford University and an M.B.A. from MIT Sloan School of Management.
Bates is Chairman (since 2021) and CEO (since 2019) of Genesys Cloud Services, with prior executive roles at Microsoft, Skype, GoPro and Cisco Systems. He led Skype as CEO through its acquisition by Microsoft and served as President of Microsoft's Skype Division, and previously served on the boards of VMware (2016-2023) and eBay (2015-2022). He is an audit committee financial expert and serves on Okta's audit committee.
Bernshteyn led Coupa Software as Chairman and CEO for roughly 14 years (2009-2023), scaling it from early stage to a global business spend management platform, and is now a General Partner at ICONIQ Capital (since February 2024). He previously held product leadership roles at SuccessFactors and Siebel Systems, currently serves on the board of PTC, Inc., and formerly served on the board of Medallia, Inc. (2019-2021). He chairs Okta's audit committee and holds a B.S. from SUNY Albany and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
Choi is President (since November 2020) and Chief Operating Officer (since June 2019) of Coinbase Global, bringing experience leading operations at a publicly traded technology company. She earlier led corporate development at LinkedIn for over eight years, including through its acquisition by Microsoft, and previously served on the board of ZipRecruiter (2018-2022). She holds a B.A. in Economics from Johns Hopkins University and an M.B.A. from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
Sagan is the former CEO (2005-2013) of Akamai Technologies, where he previously served as President and COO, bringing cloud, internet infrastructure and cybersecurity operational expertise adjacent to Okta's business. He has extensive public-company board experience, including as Lead Independent Director of VMware and directorships at Thomson Reuters, Moderna, EMC and Dow Jones, and is a Catalyst Advisor at venture firm General Catalyst. He chairs Okta's compensation and governance committee and holds a B.S. from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University.
Schellhase brings deep public-company governance expertise from General Counsel roles at Slack (2016-2021), Groupon (2011-2014) and Salesforce (2002-2011), and was Of Counsel at Sullivan & Cromwell LLP (2022-2025). He is an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at cybersecurity-focused Ballistic Ventures (since July 2025) and an adjunct lecturer at Stanford University. He serves as Okta's Lead Independent Director (appointed March 2026) and holds a B.A. from Columbia University and a J.D. from Cornell Law School.
Tighe has served as Okta's CFO since January 2022, after serving as interim CFO from June 2021 and previously as SVP of Finance and Treasurer, VP of FP&A and head of worldwide FP&A since joining in 2015. From 2004 to 2015 he held various finance roles at Salesforce, most recently as Senior Director, Corporate Finance & Strategy. He holds an M.B.A. from the University of San Francisco and a B.A. from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Addison has served as Okta's Chief Revenue Officer since November 2023, after serving as interim CRO and as General Manager of EMEA. Before joining Okta, he was VP of EMEA & LATAM Talent Solutions at LinkedIn (2019-2021) and Head of Sales, Talent Solutions U.K., and earlier held roles at Oracle, Finastra, OpenText, Pitney Bowes and Capgemini. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Geography and Economics from King's College London.
Kelleher has served as Okta's President and COO since February 2025, having previously served as President, Customer Experience and Communication, as Chief Customer Officer (2020-2024) and in senior customer and global services roles since joining in 2016. He earlier held leadership roles at SaaS companies including Salesforce and LinkedIn. He holds an M.S. in Computer Science from Stanford University and a B.S. in Computer Science and Economics from Georgetown University.
Ninan has served as Okta's Chief Accounting Officer since August 2022. He previously was VP, Chief Accounting Officer at Veritas Technologies (2015-2022) and Chief Accounting Officer at Saba Software (2013-2015, later acquired by Cornerstone OnDemand), and earlier was a Senior Manager at KPMG US and Deloitte India. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Bangalore University, a Chartered Accountancy from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, and a CPA from the AICPA.
Schwartz has served as Okta's Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary since March 2023, after serving as SVP, Deputy General Counsel, Corporate & Securities and in earlier corporate and securities counsel roles since joining in 2015. She was previously Corporate Counsel at Jazz Pharmaceuticals (2012-2015) and a corporate attorney at Fenwick & West LLP and Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP. Okta announced she will step down from the role effective July 31, 2026. She holds a J.D. from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, an M.Phil. and M.A. from Yale University, and a B.A. from Middlebury College.
