John Whittle has served as Fortinet's Chief Operating Officer since January 2024, overseeing global teams including mergers and acquisitions, strategic alliances and marketing. He joined Fortinet in October 2006 and has served as an executive there for more than 18 years.

He previously served as Fortinet's Chief Legal Officer from April 2022 to January 2024, as EVP of Corporate Development from January 2019 to January 2024, and as General Counsel from October 2006 to April 2022. Before Fortinet he was Vice President and General Counsel of Corio, Inc. (acquired by IBM) and Ingres Corporation, and an attorney at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati. He holds a B.A. from the University of Virginia and a J.D. from Cornell University Law School.
