Jacqualyn A. Fouse, Ph.D., served as Agios's chief executive officer from February 2019 to August 2022 and has served on the board since December 2017, becoming chair in August 2022. She previously held senior leadership and CFO roles at Celgene, Bunge and Alcon Laboratories.

Rahul Ballal, Ph.D., has served on Agios's board since August 2022 and is chief executive officer of Mediar Therapeutics. He was previously president and CEO of Imara until its 2023 merger with Enliven Therapeutics.

Cynthia Smith has served on Agios's board since August 2022 and has consulted as a strategic advisor to biotechnology companies since 2017. She was previously chief commercial officer of ZS Pharma and held senior leadership roles at Affymax and Merck & Co.

Kaye Foster has served on Agios's board since December 2014 and has nearly 30 years of human-resources experience in the pharmaceutical industry. She has been a senior advisor at the Boston Consulting Group since 2014 and was previously senior vice president, global human resources at Onyx Pharmaceuticals.

Maykin Ho, Ph.D., has served on Agios's board since June 2015 and has more than 30 years of healthcare and finance experience. She was a venture partner at Qiming Venture Partners and previously held healthcare investment-research and banking roles at Goldman Sachs.

Jeffrey Capello has served on Agios's board since June 2023 and is managing partner of Monomoy Advisors. He was previously executive vice president and chief financial officer of Biogen and has held CFO roles at Boston Scientific and PerkinElmer.

Catherine Owen Adams has served on Agios's board since June 2023 and is chief executive officer of Acadia Pharmaceuticals. She was previously senior vice president, major markets at Bristol-Myers Squibb and held senior commercial roles at Johnson & Johnson.

David Scadden, M.D., has served on Agios's board since May 2017 and is a hematologist/oncologist and physician-scientist. He is the Gerald and Darlene Jordan Professor of Medicine at Harvard University and co-founded the Harvard Stem Cell Institute.

Jay Backstrom, M.D., M.P.H., has served on Agios's board since July 2025 and is chief executive officer and president of Kamino Therapeutics. He previously was president and CEO of Scholar Rock and chief medical officer of Celgene.

Cecilia Jones has served as Agios's chief financial officer since September 2022. She was previously CFO of LogicBio Therapeutics and held a range of finance roles at Biogen, including vice president, finance.

James Burns has served as Agios's chief legal officer since January 2022, having joined the company in 2016 as a senior attorney and its first head of compliance before serving as senior vice president and general counsel. He has more than 19 years of legal and compliance experience in the pharmaceutical industry.

Sarah Gheuens, M.D., Ph.D., has served as Agios's chief medical officer since September 2021 and head of research & development since July 2022, having joined the company in December 2019. She previously held roles of increasing responsibility in safety, medical affairs and clinical development at Biogen.

Tsveta Milanova has served as Agios's chief commercial officer since January 2023. She was previously senior vice president and head of US commercial at Alexion and held a variety of pricing and market-access leadership roles at Celgene.

Krishnan Viswanadhan, Pharm.D., has served as Agios's chief corporate development & strategy officer since March 2025. He was previously president and chief operating officer at Be Biopharma and senior vice president, global cell therapy at Bristol-Myers Squibb.
