Dr. Hassanein founded TransMedics, Inc. and has served as President and Chief Executive Officer and as a member of the Board since August 1998. Prior to founding the company, he completed a three-year cardiac surgery research fellowship at West Roxbury VA Medical Center and Brigham and Women's Hospital, a Harvard Medical School affiliate, and two years of general surgery residency at Georgetown University Medical Center, where he received his M.D. in 1993.
