Robert G. Ashe has served as an MSCI director since 2013 and is the Board's independent Lead Director.

He previously served as General Manager of Business Analytics at IBM (2010-2012) and General Manager of Business Intelligence and Performance Management (2008-2010) following IBM's acquisition of Cognos Inc., where he worked from 1984 to 2008, most recently as President and CEO (2004-2008). He holds an Honours Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from the University of Ottawa and is a Certified Public Accountant in Canada.
