C.D. Baer Pettit served as MSCI's President from October 2017 until March 1, 2026 and as Chief Operating Officer from January 2020 to November 2025 (and earlier 2015-2017); he was also a director from January 2023 until March 1, 2026. He notified the Company of his retirement on November 12, 2025 and entered an advisory arrangement through the third quarter of 2026.
He joined MSCI in 2001 and held roles including Head of Product Group (February-September 2015), Head of Index Products (2011-2015), Head of Marketing (2005-2012) and Head of Client Coverage (2001-2012). Before MSCI he worked at Bloomberg L.P. from 1992 to 1999, and holds an M.A. in history from Cambridge University and an M.S. from Georgetown's School of Foreign Service.
