Peter R. Orszag is Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Lazard, having led the firm and served as a Board director since October 2023. He previously served as Chief Executive Officer of Lazard's Financial Advisory business from June 2019 until September 2023, and before that as Lazard's Head of North American Mergers & Acquisitions (from July 2018) and Global Co-Head of Healthcare (from November 2016).
He joined Lazard in May 2016 as a Vice Chairman of Investment Banking from Citigroup, where he had been Vice Chairman of Corporate and Investment Banking and Chairman of the Financial Strategy and Solutions Group from 2011 to 2016. Earlier in his career he held senior U.S. government roles, serving as Director of the Office of Management and Budget in the Obama Administration (2009-2010) and Director of the Congressional Budget Office (2007-2008), and served in the Clinton Administration at the Council of Economic Advisers and as Special Assistant to the President for Economic Policy.
Mr. Orszag holds a Ph.D. in economics and is a member of the National Academy of Medicine and the Council on Foreign Relations.
