George Vincent West is the Founder of Floor & Decor Holdings, Inc. and has served on its board of directors since he founded the company in 2000. He currently serves as Vice Chairman of the board, a position he has held since December 2012. He served as the company's Chief Executive Officer from 2000 to 2002, as co-Chief Executive Officer from 2008 to 2010, and as Chief Executive Officer from 2010 through 2012, guiding Floor & Decor from a single store in Atlanta to a national specialty retailer with over 200 locations and a successful IPO in 2017.
He brings over 40 years of entrepreneurial and executive leadership experience in retail, building materials, hospitality, advertising, and real estate development. Mr. West began his business career starting a successful retail glassware business in Atlanta. He was eventually recruited to work for his family building materials business, West Building Materials, which operated in five southeastern states, and eventually became its President. He also developed and sold a multistate billboard company and has developed several real estate projects across Georgia, the most recent being Utana Bluffs, a boutique mountain home community in the north Georgia mountains, as well as the Mountain & Marsh Hospitality Group.
He is recognized for philanthropy and community leadership, actively supporting arts, education, and health initiatives across Georgia. He serves as Vice Chair of the Telfair Art Museum Board of Trustees and on the Board of Governors of Bethesda Academy, with prior service including Chair of the Lamar Dodd School of Art Board of Visitors, the Savannah Music Festival, and the Executive Advisory Council of the Emory Brain Health Center. He graduated from the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia in 1977.
