Adaptive Biotechnologies Corp Leadership

Michelle Griffin has served on Adaptive Biotechnologies' board of directors since March 2019 and chairs the Audit Committee. She previously served on the boards of Acer Therapeutics, HTG Molecular Diagnostics, Chinook Therapeutics, PhaseRx, OncoGenex Pharmaceuticals (now Achieve Life Sciences) and Sonus Pharmaceuticals, often as audit committee chair. Ms. Griffin held senior financial and operating roles including Executive Vice President, Operations and Chief Financial Officer at OncoGenex Pharmaceuticals (2011-2013), Acting Chief Executive, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer and earlier Chief Financial Officer at Trubion Pharmaceuticals (2006-2010), Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Dendreon Corp. (2005-2006) and Chief Financial Officer of Corixa Corp (1997-2005). She holds a BS in marketing from George Mason University and an MBA from Seattle University.

Dr. Robert Hershberg has served on Adaptive Biotechnologies' board of directors since February 2013 and chairs the Compensation and Human Capital Committee. He is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of HilleVax, Inc. (since 2020) and a Venture Partner at Frazier Healthcare Partners (since March 2020). He previously served as Executive Vice President and head of business development and global alliances at Celgene (2017-2020) and as its Chief Scientific Officer (2016-2020), and co-founded VentiRx Pharmaceuticals, serving as CEO from 2012 until its acquisition by Celgene in 2017. He is chairman of the board of Recursion Pharmaceuticals and serves on several private biotech boards and the scientific advisory board of Danaher Corporation. Dr. Hershberg completed the Medical Scientist Training Program and holds a PhD in Biology from UC San Diego's affiliated program with the Salk Institute and an MD and BA from UCLA.

Peter Neupert has served on Adaptive Biotechnologies' board of directors since December 2013, is the Lead Independent Director and chairs the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee. He was an Operating Partner at Health Evolution Partners (2012-2014), Corporate Vice President of the Health Solutions Group at Microsoft (2005-2012) and Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Drugstore.com, which he joined in 1998. He currently serves on the boards of Laboratory Corporation of America Holdings and Fortrea Holdings Inc., where he served as acting Chief Executive Officer from May 2025 to August 2025 and is chair of the board. Mr. Neupert holds an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College and a BA in Philosophy from Colorado College.

Dr. Katey Owen has served on Adaptive Biotechnologies' board of directors since March 2021. She joined the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in 2013 as Deputy Director of Vaccine Development, became Director, Neglected Tropical Diseases in 2017 and Director, Vaccine Development in November 2022, with responsibility for large vaccine and neglected-tropical-disease portfolios and the Foundation's pharmaceutical-industry engagement. Before the Gates Foundation she held roles of increasing responsibility at Merck & Co., including in Merck Vaccines, Merck Manufacturing Division and Merck Research Laboratories. She serves on the board of the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations and as a board observer for other health organizations. Dr. Owen holds a PhD in Molecular Virology and a BS in Genetic Biology from Purdue University.

Chad Robins co-founded Adaptive Biotechnologies in September 2009 and has served as its Chief Executive Officer and a member of the board of directors since incorporation, and as Chairman of the board. Under his leadership Adaptive built its immune medicine platform spanning life sciences research, clinical diagnostics and drug discovery, completed its 2019 IPO and launched clonoSEQ, the first FDA-authorized next-generation-sequencing test to detect and monitor minimal residual disease in certain B-cell cancers. He currently serves on the boards of Headlight, Washington Roundtable, AltPep, AdvaMedDx and Life Science Washington, and chairs the board of the Coalition for 21st Century Medicine. He is the brother of Chief Scientific Officer Harlan Robins. Mr. Robins holds an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a BS in Managerial Economics from Cornell University.

Kyle Piskel has served as Adaptive Biotechnologies' Chief Financial Officer since April 2024. He joined the company in September 2015 and held roles of increasing responsibility, including Principal Accounting Officer since October 2021 and Interim Chief Financial Officer from February 2022 to June 2022. Before joining Adaptive, Mr. Piskel was an Accounting Manager at Expedia Group from October 2014 to August 2015 and worked in the Assurance services practice at Ernst & Young LLP from August 2007 to October 2014. A former certified public accountant, he holds a BA in Business Administration from Eastern Washington University and a Master of Accountancy from Gonzaga University.

Julie Rubinstein has served as Adaptive Biotechnologies' President since February 2018 and assumed the additional role of Chief Operating Officer in April 2023. She joined Adaptive in April 2011 as head of Corporate and Business Development and served as Chief Business Officer from January 2016 to February 2018, and was part of the executive team that took the company public in 2019. Before Adaptive she held worldwide commercial development roles at Pfizer's Oncology division focused on cancer immunotherapy and various roles at Johnson & Johnson. She serves on the Boards of Trustees of The Valerie Fund and The Gift of Life. Ms. Rubinstein holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and dual undergraduate degrees from The Wharton School and Annenberg School of Communications at the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Harlan Robins co-founded Adaptive Biotechnologies in September 2009 and has served as its Chief Scientific Officer (or Head of Innovation) since incorporation, leading the science behind the company's immune medicine platform and its TCR-antigen mapping work. He previously held roles in the Computational Biology Program at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, including Assistant Faculty Member (2006-2011), Associate (2011-2016) and Full Member and Head of the program (2016-2019). He is the brother of Chief Executive Officer Chad Robins. Dr. Robins holds a BS in Physics from Harvard University and an MS and PhD in Physics from the University of California, Berkeley, and completed postdoctoral appointments at the Weizmann Institute of Science and the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton University.

Dr. Sharon Benzeno has served as Adaptive Biotechnologies' Chief Commercial Officer, Immune Medicine since April 2022 and leads the Drug Discovery group. She previously served as Chief Business Development Officer (2020-2022), Senior Vice President, Drug Discovery (2018-2020) and in business development roles of ascending responsibility after joining Adaptive in September 2014. Before Adaptive she was a Senior Director at Elsevier Inc., a Senior Manager in the oncology business unit at Capgemini SE, and held oncology alliance and scientific management roles at AstraZeneca plc. Dr. Benzeno holds a PhD in Biomedical Sciences from New York University School of Medicine, an MBA in Finance and Leadership from NYU's Stern School of Business and a BA in Biochemistry from NYU, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in cancer biology at the University of Pennsylvania Abramson Cancer Center.

Susan Bobulsky has served as Adaptive Biotechnologies' Chief Commercial Officer, MRD since January 2024, leading the commercial organization for the clonoSEQ minimal residual disease franchise. She served in commercial and strategic planning roles of ascending responsibility after joining Adaptive in September 2014. Before Adaptive she spent nine years as an Associate Principal with ZS Associates, a healthcare management consulting firm, specializing in commercialization strategy and execution for therapeutic and diagnostic products. Ms. Bobulsky holds an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a BS in Science, Technology and Society from Stanford University.

Francis Lo has served as Adaptive Biotechnologies' Chief People Officer since May 2019, leading People and Culture. Before joining Adaptive he was Vice President, Human Resources at Whole Foods Market, Inc. from March 2017 to April 2019, and from 2011 to 2017 held roles of ascending responsibility at Starbucks Corporation, including Director, Global Talent Management and Dean of Starbucks China University. He has also worked in CPG sales, strategy, consumer insights and shopper marketing. Mr. Lo holds an MBA from Stanford University Graduate School of Business and a BA in the Plan II Honors Program from the University of Texas at Austin.
