Roundy's, Inc. operates in Grocery retail, is based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Kroger agreed to acquire Roundy's, a supermarket operator with a complementary footprint of 151 stores, for $3.60 per share in cash, a transaction valued at approximately $800 million including debt. The deal gave Kroger a new geography in Wisconsin and added 34 Mariano's locations in the Chicago market. Announced November 11, 2015 as a tender offer and completed December 18, 2015.
Roundy's complementary store base, entry into the new Wisconsin geography, and the Mariano's urban format in Chicago that had resonated with customers.
