Janaki Akella has served on the Akamai Board since 2025 and sits on the Audit and Finance Committees. She held Digital Transformation leadership roles at Google LLC from 2017 to 2023, most recently as Chief of Business Operations, Director, Ads Privacy and Safety (2020-2023), and spent 1999 to 2016 at McKinsey & Company, most recently as a principal. She currently serves on the boards of Southern Company, SLM Corporation (Sallie Mae) and the enterprise AI company Fractal.ai, bringing deep expertise in cloud computing, cybersecurity, AI and strategy.

Sharon Bowen has served on the Akamai Board since 2021 and sits on the Audit and ESG Committees. She was a Commissioner of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission from June 2014 until her retirement in September 2017 and was a Senior Associate and Partner at the law firm Latham & Watkins from 1988 to May 2014. She currently serves as Chair of the New York Stock Exchange (a subsidiary of Intercontinental Exchange, Inc.), on the board of Intercontinental Exchange, Inc., and on the board of Neuberger Berman Group.

Marianne Brown has served on the Akamai Board since 2020, where she chairs the Finance Committee and serves on the Audit Committee. She was Corporate Executive Vice President and Co-Chief Operating Officer of Fidelity National Information Services (FIS) from January 2018 through December 2019 and Chief Operating Officer, Institutional and Wholesale Business, of FIS from December 2015. She currently serves on the boards of The Charles Schwab Corporation, Northrop Grumman Corp. and International Business Machines Corporation, and previously served on the board of VMware, Inc.

Bas Burger has served on the Akamai Board since 2025 and sits on the TL&C and ESG Committees. He held a variety of executive roles at BT Group, the British multinational telecommunications company, from 2008, most recently serving as CEO of BT International - the division delivering data, voice, security and cloud connectivity to multinational organizations - from April 2025 until February 2026. He brings deep telecommunications and network-services expertise and a track record in global sales, channels and go-to-market partnerships.

Dan Hesse has served on the Akamai Board since 2016 and as Board Chair since 2021, and sits on the TL&C and ESG Committees. He was President and Chief Executive Officer of Sprint Corporation from December 2007 to August 2014. He currently serves on the board of PNC Financial Services Group, Inc., and brings extensive mobile and telecommunications industry insight along with chief-executive leadership experience overseeing a large, complex technology company.

Tom Killalea has served on the Akamai Board since 2018 and sits on the Audit and Finance Committees. He was Founder and President of the consulting firm Aionle LLC from November 2014 to December 2021 and VP Technology for the Kindle Content Ecosystem at Amazon.com from 2008 to 2014. He currently serves on the boards of Capital One Financial Corp., as Chair of MongoDB, Inc., and of Satellogic Inc., bringing deep internet-security, cloud-computing and content-delivery expertise.

Jonathan Miller has served on the Akamai Board since 2015 and sits on the TL&C and ESG Committees. He has been CEO of the investment company Integrated Media Co. since February 2018 and an advisor at the venture-capital firm Advancit Capital since January 2018, having previously been a partner there since 2013. He currently serves on the board of Lee Enterprises, Incorporated, and previously served on the boards of Interpublic Group, Nielsen Holdings and Ziff Davis, bringing deep digital-media expertise.

Madhu Ranganathan has served on the Akamai Board since 2019, where she chairs the Audit Committee and serves on the Finance Committee. She was President and Chief Financial Officer of Open Text Corporation from April 2018 to March 2025 and Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of 24/7 Customer, Inc. from June 2008 to March 2018. She currently serves on the boards of TriNet Group and Bank of Montreal and qualifies as an audit committee financial expert, bringing extensive public-company financial and global SaaS operating expertise.

Dr. Tom Leighton co-founded Akamai in 1998 and has served as Chief Executive Officer since January 2013, having previously been the company's Chief Scientist from 1998 to 2012. He has been a Professor of Applied Mathematics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology since 1982 (currently on leave) and is a co-founder and key developer of the software underlying Akamai's platform. From 2003 to 2005 he chaired the Presidential Information Technology Advisory Committee on Cybersecurity, and he has served on Akamai's Board since 1998.

Edward (Ed) McGowan became Akamai's Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in March 2019 and took on added responsibility for the global IT organization in December 2021. He joined Akamai in 2000 and has held numerous roles, including Senior Vice President, Finance (2018-2019), Senior Vice President, Global Sales for the Media & Carrier Division (2017-2018) and Vice President, Global Carrier Strategy & Sales (2013-2016). Before Akamai he was Controller for iCast Corporation, a CMGI company, and began his career in public accounting at Arthur Andersen and PwC. A certified public accountant, he also serves on the board of WinVest Acquisition Corp.

Aaron Ahola was named Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary in May 2019, having served as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary from October 2017. He joined Akamai in April 2000 and has held a variety of positions, including Vice President and Deputy General Counsel (2011-2017) and Chief Privacy Officer (2008-2017). Before Akamai he was a corporate and M&A attorney at Ropes & Gray LLP in Boston and Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton LLP in New York. He currently serves on the Nasdaq Listing and Hearing Review Council.

Dr. Robert Blumofe became Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer in March 2021. He previously served as Executive Vice President, Platform and General Manager of the Enterprise Division (2016-2021) and as Executive Vice President - Platform from January 2013. He joined Akamai in 1999 and held a variety of roles, including leading the performance team and developing the Akamai Intelligent Edge Platform. Before Akamai he was an Associate Professor of Computer Science at the University of Texas at Austin and has been widely published in algorithms and systems for highly distributed and parallel computing.

Paul Joseph became Executive Vice President, Global Sales and Services in March 2021 and gained oversight of the Global Services organization in December 2021. He joined Akamai in January 2000 and has served in a variety of roles, including Senior Vice President, Global Sales for the Media and Carrier Division (2018-2021), Vice President, Field Business Development in the Media Division (2017-2018) and Vice President of the Americas Channel Sales group (2016-2017), following earlier business-development and account-executive roles.

Adam Karon became Chief Operating Officer and General Manager of the Cloud Technology Group in March 2021. He joined Akamai in February 2005 and has held numerous leadership positions, including Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Media and Carrier Division (2017-2021) and Senior Vice President, Global Services and Support (2014-2017). Before Akamai he was a Client Director for Leftbrain, Inc. and Director of Technology for Transportation Components, Inc.

Kim Salem-Jackson became Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer in March 2021. She joined Akamai in August 2017 as Vice President of Global Marketing and was promoted to Senior Vice President, Marketing and Corporate Communications in November 2019. Before Akamai she was Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing and Business Development at Informatica (2015-2017) after a range of management roles there. She serves on the board of the Akamai Foundation and was a founding member of Chief, a network for women in business leadership.

Mani Sundaram became Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Security Technology Group in December 2021. He joined Akamai in February 2007 and held a variety of positions, most recently Executive Vice President, Global Services & Support and Chief Information Officer (2018-2021), Senior Vice President, Global Services and Support (2017-2018) and Vice President, Global Services (2015-2017). Before Akamai he worked in engineering, marketing and client-services roles at Virtify Inc. and Stratus Technologies.

Anthony Williams became Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer in January 2020. He joined Akamai in April 2015 as Vice President, Talent Acquisition and Diversity, a role that expanded to Vice President, International HR, Talent Acquisition & Diversity in January 2018. Before Akamai he held a range of global human-resources positions at First Data Corporation (acquired by Fiserv in 2019), Newell Rubbermaid and Time Warner - Turner Broadcasting System.
