Mark D. Papermaster joined AMD in October 2011 as Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President, and has held the title of Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, Technology and Engineering, responsible for technical direction and product development, since January 2019. He led the development of the 'Zen' high-performance x86 CPU family, AMD's high-performance GPUs and the modular Infinity Architecture, drawing on more than 40 years of engineering experience that previously included leading Cisco Systems' Silicon Engineering Group, serving as Apple's Senior Vice President of Devices Hardware Engineering, and senior leadership roles at IBM. He holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Science from the University of Vermont, both in electrical engineering, and in February 2025 was elected to the National Academy of Engineering.
