Petco Health and Wellness Company acquired PetCoach, a transaction completed in April 2017.
PetCoach operates in Digital / veterinary advice services, is based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA (leadership relocating to Southern California). Petco acquired PetCoach, a digital services company whose website and app connect pet owners with experienced veterinary professionals for personalized advice on their pets' health and well-being. The platform combined convenient access, data and expert guidance for pet parents. As part of the deal, PetCoach co-founder and CEO Brock Weatherup joined Petco as Executive Vice President of Strategic Innovation and Digital Experience, tasked with driving the retailer's digital and innovation initiatives. Petco later extended the PetCoach brand into a physical store concept.
The acquisition brought entrepreneurial digital leadership and a veterinarian-led advice platform in-house, helping Petco meet the digital expectations of modern pet parents as it broadened its health-and-wellness value proposition.
