Microsoft Corporation acquired Talko, a transaction announced in December 2015, structured as Team / talent acquisition (Talko team joining Skype).
Talko operates in Skype. Talko was a mobile voice-and-messaging communications app developed by a startup founded by former Microsoft chief software architect Ray Ozzie. Microsoft brought the Talko team into the Skype organization to apply its real-time communications expertise to Skype, and planned to wind down the standalone Talko app.
Microsoft wanted to bring the Talko team's real-time voice and communications expertise into Skype.
