About This Deal

Microsoft Corporation acquired SyntaxTree, a transaction announced in July 2014.

SyntaxTree operates in Developer Division (Visual Studio / game development). SyntaxTree created UnityVS, a plugin that let developers using the Unity cross-platform game engine author, browse, and debug their code inside Visual Studio. Microsoft acquired it to integrate Unity support more deeply into Visual Studio and strengthen the tooling for game developers (later shipped as Visual Studio Tools for Unity).

Deepen Visual Studio's support for Unity game developers and offer the UnityVS plugin capability broadly.
