Microsoft Corporation acquired FolderShare, a transaction announced in November 2005.
FolderShare operates in Windows Live (MSN Communication Services and Member Platform group), is based in Austin, Texas. FolderShare (owned and operated by ByteTaxi Inc.) offered a file-synchronization and remote-access service that syncs files across multiple devices and provides browser-based access, removing the need to email large files or use physical media. Microsoft acquired it to integrate file synchronization into Windows Live.
To integrate file-synchronization technology into Windows Live software and services, enabling customers to access their information anytime, anywhere across multiple devices.
