Microsoft acquired it to expand Dynamics CRM customer-service capabilities and enable predictive service through integration with Azure IoT and Cortana Analytics.
Enterprises want to move from reactive break-fix service to proactive, predictive service delivery, and FieldOne's end-to-end capabilities complement Microsoft's customer-service offerings.
