Microsoft Corporation acquired Avere Systems, a transaction completed in February 2018.
Avere Systems operates in Azure. Avere Systems provides high-performance NFS and SMB file-based storage and caching for Linux and Windows clients across cloud, hybrid, and on-premises environments, aimed at large-scale compute workloads such as media and entertainment. Microsoft acquired it to combine Avere's storage technology with Azure for demanding high-performance computing workloads.
