About This Deal

AMETEK acquired Nu Instruments for part of $391.4 million across five 2016 businesses, a transaction completed in July 2016, structured as All-cash.

Nu Instruments operates in EIG. Nu Instruments, based in Wrexham, UK, builds a full range of magnetic-sector mass spectrometers used in demanding laboratory research across earth and environmental science, materials characterization and nuclear isotope analysis, with annual sales of about $25 million. AMETEK completed the acquisition in August 2016 and placed it in the Materials Analysis Division of the Electronic Instruments Group, where it complements the CAMECA elemental-analysis business.

Nu Instruments broadens the company's product offering and technical capabilities in differentiated, high-end analytical instrumentation.
