About This Deal

AMETEK acquired Avicenna Technology for part of $474.9 million across five 2011 businesses, a transaction completed in April 2011, structured as All-cash.

Avicenna Technology operates in EMG. Avicenna Technology, headquartered in Montevideo, Minnesota, is a supplier of custom, fine-featured components for the medical-device industry, including parts for catheters, leads, guide wires and custom assemblies, with annual sales of about $25 million. AMETEK acquired the company in 2011, adding catheter and medical-component capabilities that served the cardiac and neurostimulation markets, and placed it in the division handling engineered interconnects and microelectronic packaging.

Avicenna complements the company's medical device market businesses and is an excellent fit with its Technical Services for Electronics business.
