Alphabet acquired ImageAmerica, a transaction announced in July 2007.
ImageAmerica operates in Geo (Google Maps & Earth), is based in United States. Google acquired ImageAmerica, a company that builds high-resolution cameras for collecting aerial imagery. Google noted the firm's work was already familiar to Maps and Earth users, including high-resolution black-and-white imagery of New Orleans captured after Hurricane Katrina. Google said the technology was still in an R&D phase and would feed into its mapping services over time.
Add high-resolution aerial-imagery camera technology to strengthen Google Maps and Google Earth.
We're excited about how ImageAmerica's technology will contribute to our mapping services down the road.Stephen Chau, Product Manager, Google
