Guardicore, based in Tel Aviv, Israel, built a micro-segmentation platform that limits internal network communication to only authorized application flows, reducing the spread of malware and ransomware across the data center and cloud. Akamai announced the deal on September 29, 2021 at approximately $600 million; its FY2021/FY2022 Form 10-K reported final consideration of about $610.7 million in cash. The technology now underpins the Akamai Guardicore Platform.

Given the recent surge in ransomware attacks and increasingly stringent compliance regulations, investing in technologies to reduce the spread of malware has become mission critical.
