About This Deal

Agilent Technologies acquired Dako A/S for approximately $2.14 billion, a transaction completed in June 2012, structured as all cash.

Dako A/S operates in Life Sciences and Diagnostics, is based in Glostrup, Denmark. Dako is a Danish cancer-diagnostics company that supplies antibodies, reagents, scientific instruments and software to pathology laboratories, and partners with pharmaceutical companies on companion-diagnostic tests that match patients to targeted cancer therapies. Agilent bought 100% of Dako's share capital under a May 16, 2012 share purchase agreement, funded with existing cash.

The largest acquisition in Agilent's history to that point, Dako moved Agilent into the rapidly growing clinical-diagnostics market and materially increased its base of recurring revenue in anatomic pathology and molecular diagnostics.
