George R. Aylward has served as President of Virtus since November 2006 and as President and CEO since January 1, 2009, when the company became an independent public company following its spin-off from The Phoenix Companies. He joined the predecessor firm, Phoenix Investment Partners, in 1996, holding senior operating and financial roles, and directed the 2008 spin-off and transition to public-company status; he is also a director and serves as President and Trustee of the Virtus funds.
