Kroger's Board of Directors appointed Greg Foran as Chief Executive Officer effective February 9, 2026, at which point he also joined the Board, succeeding Ron Sargent, who had served as interim CEO. Kroger describes him as bringing over 40 years of experience leading large, complex consumer businesses across five countries through transformation, growth and digital adoption.

He led Walmart U.S. for about six years, delivering positive comparable sales growth for 20 consecutive quarters while managing more than 4,600 stores and one million associates. Most recently he was CEO of Air New Zealand, where he led an end-to-end digital transformation to improve customer experience and make the business more agile.
