Joseph Alvarado is the retired Chairman, President and CEO of Commercial Metals Company (CMC), a global manufacturer, recycler and marketer of steel and other metals, which he joined in April 2010 as EVP and COO, became President and CEO in September 2011, and where he served as Chairman from January 2013 until his retirement in January 2018. He has served on Kennametal's Board since 2018 and chairs the Nominating/Corporate Governance Committee; in July 2026 the Board named him to succeed William M. Lambert as Chairman effective at the October 2026 annual meeting.
