Ms. Bowen served as a Commissioner of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission from 2014 to 2017, where she was a sponsor of the CFTC Market Risk Advisory Committee. She was previously confirmed by the U.S. Senate and appointed by President Barack Obama in 2010 to serve as Vice Chair of the Securities Investor Protection Corporation, assuming the role of Acting Chair in March 2012.
She was a partner in the New York office of Latham & Watkins LLP, which she joined in 1988 and where she became a partner in January 1991, remaining until 2014. She earned degrees from the University of Virginia, the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and the Northwestern Pritzker School of Law.
