Christopher Freeman has served as Guardant Health's Chief Commercial Officer since June 2021.
He most recently served as Vice President of the HIV Business Unit at Gilead Sciences, Inc., leading the $13 billion HIV treatment and prevention business, from January 2020 to June 2021. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Mr. Freeman led the Emergency Use Authorization for Veklury (remdesivir) to treat COVID-19. He previously worked at Elan Pharmaceuticals from 2008 to 2011, where he was commercial lead for Elan's Alzheimer's pipeline products, and from 2001 to 2008 he worked at Genentech, where he led marketing for the oncology product Rituxan and for Xolair.
Mr. Freeman is a member of the National Board of Directors for Dream Foundation, a national dream-granting organization for terminally ill adults and their families. He served in the U.S. Army for five years, first enlisting as a Lieutenant and promoted to Captain before being honorably discharged in 2001. He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point and holds a Master of Administration from Central Michigan University and a Doctor of Education from the University of Southern California.
