Mr. Calbert joined the private equity firm KKR & Co. L.P. in January 2000 and was directly involved with several KKR portfolio companies until his retirement in January 2014, after which he served as a consultant to KKR until June 2015. He led KKR's Retail industry team prior to his retirement.
He served as Chief Financial Officer of Randall's Food Markets from 1997 until it was sold in September 1999 and worked as a certified public accountant and consultant with Arthur Andersen Worldwide from 1985 to 1994, focusing on the retail and consumer industry. He previously served as Dollar General's Chairman of the Board from January 2016 to February 2026 and from July 2007 to December 2008, and as lead director from March 2013 to January 2016.
