Matthew Thornton, III

Matthew Thornton, III has been a Crown Castle director since 2020. He chairs the Compensation and Human Capital Committee and serves on the Audit and Nominating & Governance Committees.

He spent more than four decades at FedEx Corporation, most recently as EVP and Chief Operating Officer of FedEx Freight, where he managed nearly 380 service centers and roughly $8 billion in annual revenue. He earlier held senior operating roles at the Federal Express subsidiary, including SVP of U.S. Operations.

He holds a B.A. from the University of Memphis and an M.B.A. from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and is a member of The Executive Leadership Council.
