Art Levinson has served as Chair of Apple's Board of Directors and has been a director since 2000. Apple announced that he will become Lead Independent Director effective September 1, 2026.

He brings executive leadership experience as a chairman and chief executive officer of a large international public company, along with financial and brand marketing expertise and deep experience in the health sector.

Dr. Levinson was awarded the National Medal of Technology and Innovation and the Biotechnology Heritage Award, and has been inducted into the Biotech Hall of Fame.
