Jonathan Klamkin is the founder of Aeluma and has served as its President, Chief Executive Officer, Chairman and a director since February 28, 2019, when the company operated as Biond Photonics (later renamed Aeluma). He is also a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of California, Santa Barbara (2015-present), where his group conducts research in integrated photonics and optoelectronics for communications and sensing applications. Earlier in his career he was with BinOptics Corp. (2001-2002), a laser diode manufacturer later acquired by Macom. He has published more than 200 papers, holds several patents, and is a recipient of the NASA Young Faculty Award, the DARPA Young Faculty Award and the DARPA Director's Fellowship. He holds a B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Cornell University and an M.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering and a Ph.D. in Materials from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
