Michael Amoroso has been Chairman of Abeona's Board since October 15, 2021 and a director since March 19, 2021. Since October 2021 he has served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Precision BioSciences, Inc. (Nasdaq: DTIL). He previously served as Abeona's President and Chief Executive Officer from March to October 2021, having joined in July 2020 as Chief Commercial Officer and been promoted to Chief Operating Officer in November 2020. From 2018 to 2020 he was Senior Vice President and Head of Worldwide Commercial Operations for Cell Therapy at Kite Pharma (a Gilead subsidiary), where he helped bring YESCARTA to market, and earlier held senior executive positions at Eisai Inc. and Celgene Corporation. He earned an Executive MBA from NYU's Stern School of Business and a B.A. in Biological Sciences, summa cum laude, from Rider University.
Keith A. Goldan became an Abeona director and Chair of the Board's Audit Committee in April 2026. Since June 2022 he has served as Chief Financial Officer of Syndax Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: SNDX), where he has helped lead the company through its first two product approvals and commercialization. He previously served as Chief Financial Officer of Optinose, Inc. from January 2017 and of Fibrocell Science, Inc., a cell and gene therapy company, and held CFO roles at NuPathe, PuriCore plc and Biosyn as well as financial roles at ViroPharma and KPMG. He received a B.S. in Finance from the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Bernhardt G. Zeiher, M.D., became an Abeona director on August 8, 2024. He brings more than 20 years of drug-development experience and oversaw the approval of 15 new treatments across serious diseases. Most recently he served as Chief Medical Officer of Astellas Pharma, where he led early- and late-stage drug development, medical and regulatory affairs, pharmacovigilance and quality assurance; he spent more than 10 years at Astellas, serving as CMO from 2018 to 2022. Earlier he led drug development at Pfizer, Eli Lilly and Company, and Merck, and practiced medicine in Indianapolis. He serves on the boards of Entrada Therapeutics, Inc. (Nasdaq: TRDA) and Amylyx Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: AMLX). He received a B.S. in biology from the University of Toledo and an M.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.
Leila Alland, M.D., became an Abeona director on April 14, 2021 and chairs the Board's Science and Technology Committee while serving on the Compensation Committee. A pediatric hematologist-oncologist and physician-scientist, she has worked in the biopharmaceutical industry since 2001 and currently serves as Chief Development Advisor at GV20 Therapeutics. She previously served as Chief Medical Officer of PMV Pharmaceuticals (2019-2023), Affimed (2018-2019) and Tarveda Therapeutics (2016-2018), and held oncology leadership positions at AstraZeneca, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Novartis and Schering-Plough. She earned her M.D. from New York University School of Medicine and a B.A. in Biology from the University of Pennsylvania, and completed a pediatrics residency at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and a pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship at The New York Hospital and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
Eric Crombez, M.D., became an Abeona director on August 8, 2024. He serves as Chief Medical Officer and Executive Vice President of Ultragenyx Pharmaceutical Inc. (Nasdaq: RARE), responsible for strategic leadership of clinical development and translational research and overseeing global development functions. He previously served as Chief Medical Officer of Dimension Therapeutics, leading clinical development of gene therapy programs in hemophilia B, hemophilia A, OTC deficiency and GSDIa, and earlier worked in Shire's Human Genetics Therapy business unit and as an assistant professor of pediatrics at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. A board-certified clinical geneticist, he earned a B.S. in biology from the University of Michigan and an M.D. from Wayne State University School of Medicine.
Mark J. Alvino became an Abeona director on March 26, 2021 and chairs the Compensation Committee and serves on the Audit Committee (which he chaired until April 2026); he had previously served on the Board from March 2006 to April 2020. He is the founder and Chairman of CircumferenceDx, a molecular diagnostics company he established in 2025, and has been President of Hudson Square Capital LLC since October 2014. From 2007 to 2013 he was Managing Director at Griffin Securities, and earlier he was Senior Vice President at Feinstein Kean Healthcare (an Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide company) and Vice President of Investor Relations at Allen & Caron, Inc. He has also worked with Wall Street brokerages including Ladenburg Thalmann & Co. and Martin Simpson & Co.
Faith L. Charles became an Abeona director on March 26, 2021 and chairs the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee while serving on the Compensation Committee. She has been a corporate transactions and securities partner at the law firm Thompson Hine LLP since 2010, where she leads the Life Sciences practice and co-heads the securities practice, advising public and emerging biotech and pharmaceutical companies on financings, mergers and acquisitions, licensing and strategic collaborations. She serves on the boards of Avenue Therapeutics, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATXI) since May 2022 and CNS Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: CNSP) since December 2023. She founded the Women in Bio Metro New York chapter and serves on the national board of Women in Bio. She holds a J.D. from The George Washington University Law School and a B.A. in Psychology from Barnard College, Columbia University.
Donald A. Wuchterl became an Abeona director on April 14, 2021 and serves on the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee and the Audit Committee. Since August 2022 he has provided Chemistry, Manufacturing and Controls (CMC) and Technical Operations executive-leadership consulting to pre-clinical gene therapy companies. From April 2021 to August 2022 he was Senior Vice President and Chief Manufacturing Officer at T-knife Therapeutics, and from 2016 to 2021 he was Senior Vice President, Technical Operations and Quality at Audentes Therapeutics (an Astellas company). From 2012 to 2016 he was Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Cytovance Biologics, and earlier held roles at Dendreon, Shire HGT, Amgen, Biogen Idec and Roche. He holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Colorado Technical University and an MBA from Fitchburg State University.
Dr. Vishwas (Vish) Seshadri, Ph.D., MBA, joined Abeona as SVP, Head of Research and Clinical Development in June 2021 and was appointed President, Chief Executive Officer and a director in October 2021. He has more than 20 years of experience across academia and senior life-sciences leadership roles spanning product development, regulatory submissions and commercialization of novel therapies, including personalized autologous cell and gene therapies. Before Abeona, from October 2010 to May 2021 he held roles of increasing responsibility at Celgene Corporation (now part of Bristol-Myers Squibb), most recently as Executive Director and Worldwide Brand Leader for Breyanzi (liso-cel), an autologous CD19-directed CAR T-cell therapy, and earlier led global project teams for REVLIMID, Abraxane, ISTODAX and other programs. He was previously Head of Early-Stage Upstream Process Development for Biologics at Dr. Reddy's Laboratories. Dr. Seshadri completed his Ph.D. in Microbiology, Immunology & Molecular Biology and a post-doc in epigenetics at the University of Arizona, and earned his MBA in Finance and Healthcare from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Joseph (Joe) Vazzano joined Abeona as Chief Financial Officer in March 2022. Before Abeona, he served as Chief Financial Officer of Avenue Therapeutics, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATXI) from February 2019 to January 2022, and previously as Avenue's Vice President of Finance and Corporate Controller from August 2017, where he secured multiple equity financings and served in a leadership role on a complex two-stage acquisition with contingent value rights. Earlier he was Assistant Corporate Controller at Intercept Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: ICPT) from October 2016 to July 2017. Mr. Vazzano holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Lehigh University and is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of New Jersey.
Brendan O'Malley, J.D., Ph.D., serves as Abeona's Chief Legal Officer, having joined the Company in 2019 as Chief IP Counsel. Before Abeona he was a partner at the New York patent-litigation firm Fitzpatrick, Cella, Harper & Scinto, where he began as a summer associate in 2006, and later at Venable LLP, which merged with Fitzpatrick in 2018. He litigated biopharmaceutical patent cases in the U.S. District Courts, at the Federal Circuit and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, negotiated settlement and license agreements, and provided patent opinions in biotech M&A due diligence. He earned his J.D. from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology & Microbiology from Tufts University School of Medicine, and a B.S. magna cum laude from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.
Dr. Madhav Vasanthavada, Ph.D., MBA, became Abeona's Chief Commercial Officer and an executive officer in January 2026, having joined the Company in June 2022. Before Abeona he held commercial leadership roles at Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS) and Celgene, where he led the marketing team in the global CAR T-cell therapy franchise to launch two autologous cell therapies, Breyanzi (liso-cel) and Abecma (ide-cel), in key worldwide markets. Earlier he held U.S. commercial roles at Bayer in marketing, market access and sales, ultimately as brand leader for Xofigo, and began his career as a scientist in Novartis R&D. He holds a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Rhode Island and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
