Per ABB's official leadership profile, Mathias Gaertner holds a PhD (2001) and a Law degree (1998) from the University of Muenster, Germany, and is admitted to the German bar. Before Holcim he worked 10 years at Honeywell Building Technologies (US), most recently as general counsel, and from 2005 to 2011 was an attorney at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP in New York and Frankfurt. He was appointed to ABB's Executive Committee effective November 2024.
